Japanese company announced it will make fuel cells using carbon fiber

Japan TohoTenax Teijin Group companies engaged in the carbon fiber business, major corporations, the company has announced that manufacture of carbon fiber fabric will make the gas diffusion layer (GDL) into the commercial, to be used as components of fuel cell electrodes. GDL is the main component of the fuel cell electrode, fuel cell supply of hydrogen and oxygen, while the collection of the electron, can help film produced water discharged. GDL must be conductive and infiltration water. Fabrics commonly used in matrix-type GDL and GDL, compared with better flexibility and strength, papier-mache GDL from carbon fiber impregnated with resin or other material made. Introduction of new fabric structure, turn around the high-speed processing can be conducted to reduce the cost. Because no resin or other materials, can further improve the water permeability, which can increase the fuel cell output.
