Toshiba’s new lithium-ion battery plant is completed
Toshiba held completion ceremony on 29th for a built in Kashiwazaki City, Niigata Prefecture, a new type of lithium battery factory. Investment in the plant is about 250 billion yen. Areas such as electric vehicles, lithium-ion battery market is expected to be expand, Toshiba hopes to prepare early, timely response to surge in demand and product upgrades.
The new plant put into operation in spring 2011. Initial capacity of 500,000 per month, monthly capacity during the year 2011 to 100 million.
Toshiba's new lithium-ion batteries can also be used forklifts and electric motor. Companies strive to put the year 2015 a new lithium-ion battery business, total sales increased to 200 billion yen, the future will work with Mitsubishi Motors R & D of new batteries.
