The battery life can be extended by a little more sleep–one
Keeping your notebook computers, iPod and iPhone batteries healthy by charging them fully and then discharging them completely at least once a month, as discussed last week, affects two different aspects of your batteries.
Battery life span is how long your battery will last before it must be replaced, and battery life is how long your device will run before it needs recharging.
If you have a notebook computer, there are some other things you can do to extend its battery life:
First, use the Energy Saver System Preference pane’s Battery tab to set the computer sleep and display sleep features to the shortest intervals you can tolerate.
Enabling other Energy Saver options, such as putting the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible, dim the display slightly when on battery power, and reducing screen brightness before the display goes to sleep, can also extend battery life.
Next, use the Displays System Preference pane (or brightness controls on your keyboard) to reduce screen brightness as much as you can tolerate. The lower it is, the longer you can go between recharges.
