bought this for my cunsionas a birthday present ,after the original adapter broke. Yes, it gets a hotter than the original, but the original Dell adapter didn't exactly run COOL to begin with. Keep it in a well-ventilated area and you should be fine. The only real problem that I have is the cord is noticeably shorter than the original, which required using an extension cord to keep the computer in the same place as before. It's a good value for the money. If you want something better, then spend the $65 and order the Dell replacement. If you want something that will do the job cheaply, then this will get it done.

I got this because of the price, but the plug that goes to the laptop is hard to get in. If you don't push it hard, it won't charge

this item is exactly like the Adapter my dell laptop came with that my new puppy chewed thru.
