bought this for my daughter's laptop after the original adapter broke. Yes, it gets a hotter than the original, but the original Dell adapter didn't exactly run COOL to begin with. Keep it in a well-ventilated area and you should be fine. The only real problem that I have is the cord is noticeably shorter than the original, which required using an extension cord to keep the computer in the same place as before. It's a good value for the money.

was just a second power cord for my office, where I have a makeshift "docking station" to use the laptop with an external screen and keyboard. It lasted six months. The original powercord is still working fine.

since my original one was brlken, I bought this one, works great so far and very cheap compared to the $110 universal adapter from Circuit city. The item was delivered not so quickly.wish it could be improved.
